Putting the Diaper on Mickey

Madeleine likes changing the diapers of Mickey and Minnie. It's one of her new favorite activities and is a secondary sign that she herself may have done some business requiring a change. Like all first time parents, she's struggling to master the diaper fastening techniques but she's trying hard.

Sports Blitz

Madeleine has a new Daddy/daughter activity on Saturdays called Sports Blitz. It's a very basic orientation to sports for toddlers teaching things like how to kick a soccer ball, throw a baseball and shoot a basketball.

Madeleine's interest in this activity is somewhat limited and she usually says "all done" after about 20 minutes - but she gets to see some of her toddler pals and play at the playground afterwards. And Daddy gets some one-on-one quality time with his daughter.

Baby Office

A trip to Pottery Barn, a little rearranging of the first floor and PRESTO - it's Madeleine's new office!

Madeleine loves all of the art items that Grandma Mary and Grandpa Steve got her for Christmas, starting with her art easel, and this interest has now developed into a full blown obsession with coloring books. Unfortunately we didn't have anywhere for her to sit while coloring that was her size - hence the new table and chairs that are perfect as part of her toddler art studio.

Soda Pop Stop

An entire store based on soda pop and candy + one little girl = one good time.

Really interesting place less than 10 minutes from our house but we only discovered it due to our friend Anne who lives in Richmond, Virginia. Welcome to the internet age.

It's a grocery founded in 1897 and they've been making sandwiches with the same recipes for 80+ years but their primary focus these days is on soda pop. The more obscure the better - including a number I haven't seen in years. Remember Bubble Up? Orange Crush? RC Cola? They've got 'em - along with equally obscure candy.

Madeleine's "Great" Aunts

Madeleine had a great visit last weekend with Aunt Janeen and Aunt Crazy, who were escaping the lousy weather back east for a few days in sunny California. Everyone had great fun.

Aunt Janeen took her to Huntington Gardens.....



And let her sip from a Dos Equis cup (filled with water thankfully)



Aunt Crazy let her play with her very expensive designer sunglasses


But thankfully took a pass on the jambalaya



Mommy took her to the end of Santa Monica Pier


And daddy served as her waiter at the restaurant......
