Baby Health Update
We've had an interesting last 48 hours or so with Madeleine. Late Sunday, she started fussing more than usual. We thought it was bad gas and/or constipation. By Monday morning, it had turned into abnormally ear popping and inconsolable crying, making us think that she was in actual pain.
It got bad enough that Hannah called the after hours number for our pediatrician. The doctor on duty told us to bring her in today but to take her to the emergency room if the hardcore crying persisted.
Thankfully, the little one was able to sleep a bit more last night, so there wasn't a return trip to the ER. But Hannah took her in for her first "sick visit" to the pediatrician this morning. The "sick visit" side of the doctor's office was filled with kids with bad colds and flus ('tis the season) and at one point Hannah was worried about one child who looked like he was going to projectile vomit into Madeleine's carseat.
Once she got in to see the doctor, things moved quickly since they wanted to get Madeleine away from all the sick kids as soon as possible. So, while they weighed her (now up to 12.5 pounds!) they didn't measure her (daddy's using the measuring tape later tonight).
Bottom line - the doctor thinks her reflux is bothering her and gave Hannah a prescription for an antacid. This would explain the increased spitting up that we've seen along with the increased gas and bowel irritability. They want to see her again in another week for her regularly scheduled 2-month checkup, when she has to get 5 shots (ouch!).
