Madeleine's Love Triangle

Madeleine thinks Connor, the little boy next door, is DREAMY - she's been walking around with his picture in hand all afternoon. Unfortunately, she was caught red-handed fawning over Connor's photo by one of her other suitors - Will - who likes to look through the French doors into our place trying to find Madeleine. Only 21 months and already a heartbreaker.

Meeting Daddy's Boss & Fun @ Home

Madeleine went to Disneyland today and got to meet daddy's new boss for the first time. We weren't sure how she would react to Mickey but she gave him a big smile.

Meanwhile, while waiting for the babysitter last night, Madeleine heard the word "sunglasses" and went over, picked them off the counter, and paraded around the house with them. She does, in fact, wear her sunglasses at night.

Meanwhile, mommy likes our next door neighbor Paola so much that she's decided to dress exactly like her - as we discovered when Paola and her husband came over for wine and cheese the other night. They're the J Crew twins!

Sunday Best

Madeleine is our little fashion plate when it's time to get dressed up for church on Sunday.

Coffee Shop Girl

There's a great coffee shop 15 minutes from our house with a huge play area for kids - about twice the size of the play areas back home in Virginia and with nicer toys. As you can imagine, Madeleine has a blast here - in fact, convincing her to leave can be a challenge.

Our Little Artiste

Madeleine took her first painting class yesterday. She's more of an abstract modernist than an impressionist or realist at this point in her artistic journey but the key thing is that she had FUN

Seasons Greetings

It's daddy's favorite season of the year - football season - and the girls are getting into the spirit of things.

Mommy got Madeleine dressed up to show her school spirit.

Madeleine got a rare exception to the "no TV" rule

And daddy got had someone close by to keep him calm as his team blew a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter (that should have been a 20+ point lead) but managed to hang on. Thankfully Daddy managed to survive the experience without teaching Madeleine any 4-letter words.

Our Angel's Halo

Our girl loves to put things on her head and either see how long they can stay up there or knock them off and watch them fall. Looks like she has a little halo sometimes.

Smoke-Free Family

The winds shifted yesterday afternoon enough for us to get outside for a bit and enjoy the courtyard and fountain - one of Madeleine's favorite spots.

Every morning, we wake up to the news that the fire has doubled in size - even longtime residents of Southern California can't remember a fire like this one.
